Viewing files with external references

When the parent and child documents have been properly linked as described in Creating external reference documents, they can be viewed together in one operation.

Before you begin

The Advanced File Management add-on must be installed on the Meridian Project Portal server for this procedure. Installation on your computer is optional, but recommended.

To view files with external references:

1. In the Documents view, click the file name of the parent file and select subget from the menu that appears. Your browser's File Download dialog box appears. If the Advanced File Management add-on is installed on your computer, the dialog should show the file type as Meridian Project Portal Advanced File Management Archive.
2. If the Advanced File Management add-on is installed on your computer, click Open. The archive file downloads to your computer and is extracted automatically to the working directories. The parent file opens in the CAD application specified in the Application property of the CAD Properties group.

If the Advanced File Management add-on is not installed on your computer, click Save instead. The archive downloads to your computer where you must extract the contents manually with the appropriate application, for example, WinZip.
